July 2020 Graduate Student Research Updates

Research Activity 1

PhD student Ty Dickinson has developed criteria to define extreme precipitation based on their duration and spatial size.  As part of his work, he created an event database for the Lower-48 States to determine if there are common tracks that extreme precipitation events follow. You can read a full description of his research here.

Research Activity 2

Master’s student Melanie Schroers is applying the work of former PRES2iP graduate student Greg Jennrich to characterize the impacts, large-scale development and seasonality of extreme precipitation events. Her entire research update is here.

Research Activity 3

Master’s student Ryan Bunker is categorizing extreme precipitation events based on radar data to help us understand what physical processes are driving extreme precipitation. To read his full research update, follow this link.
