Our Mission

The Prediction of Rainfall Extremes at Subseasonal to Seasonal Periods (PRES2iP) project was created to address the need for sub-seasonal to seasonal (S2S) predictions in the meteorological community. Extreme precipitation poses risks to life, the economy and society worldwide, impacting water management, transportation, energy supply, agriculture and public health. This project aims to increase understanding of the physical processes that drive extreme precipitation events and improve predictive capabilities. Additionally, we strive to foster relationships that lead to productive communication between researchers and stakeholders to increase preparedness and resilience to extreme precipitation events.
